The study of wearables...

If you're wondering what RecycleHealth does with the wearables it receives, the answer is simple... research! Right now, wearables are widely popular, but no one yet knows much about how they help to increase physical activity.  So RecycleHealth works with organizations that serve minorities, low-income households, and seniors to increase fitness and health. Participants in our studies receive wearables to keep, and we ask them to complete surveys so we can learn more about acceptability and use of wearables and their impact on physical activity and behavior change in different populations!

Dr. Jeff Phillips, Family Doctors LLC
RecycleHealth Wellness Leader

Why I am working with RecycleHealth:

"Through Family Doctors, LLC in Swampscott, MA, we run a 12 week program, Wellness and Your Health, to help patients improve their overall health. It addresses all aspects, including improving sleep, nutrition, and fitness. We focus on lifestyle changes and developing new, health-positive habits.

I believe that wearable activity trackers can be motivational and benefit a large group of patients, particularly those with chronic illnesses.  One barrier to use is the cost.  I hope these devices can help people learn more about their sleep and activity level, and support them in setting and achieving short and long term goals. That's why I am excited to work with RecycleHealth, a relationship I see as mutually beneficial.

This collaboration gives us a great opportunity to get the trackers into the hands of our patients who could benefit most from them, and the folks at Tufts University School of Medicine will have a chance to study how patients use trackers, and hopefully learn more about their usefulness."

Do you have a community or group that could benefit from wearables?

RecycleHealth would love to donate its donated wearables for research in your community.  We are very interested in working with groups that help seniors, minorities, or low-income households.  If this sounds like your organization, please email Lisa at [email protected] or send us a message through our Contact Us page.  We would love to hear from you!
